This one is simple…

At Daytona, the #26 car was run with a special paint scheme in honor of the victims of the Sandy Hook massacre in Newtown, CT. It was a brave and bold thing for NASCAR to do, especially for a sport that has its rots in the southern region of the United States, an area where “shoot first and shoot often” seems to be the mantra.

But NASCAR was going to stand up and provide leadership, because Sprint Cup racing is main stream and nationwide, with drivers coming from all walks of life, all over the country, in fact all over the world now. Heck, they’re even both genders now. NASCAR’s gone big time…

Or so we were led to believe.

So the news this afternoon came as a real surprise and a shock.

The headline blazed across ESPN:

NRA to sponsor April race at Texas

I stared in disbelief. You have got to be kidding. What the f*%k?

And as I read, the story says that no one is protesting. Well f- that. I’m mad as hell, and I’m protesting. How f-ing cynical can you be to wrap yourself in sympathy for the victims of Sandy Hook one week, and then take a couple of million dollars from the organization that made Sandy Hook possible the next?

How tone deaf do you have to be to do something that stupid?

Please, tell me, why would anyone want to continue to support an organization that would do that to the victims? Why? I seriously want to know, NASCAR fans. NRA members. Tell me!
